Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how niles ("niles", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit niles.dev, sign in to the dashboard, or use the niles service (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication details. If you sign in through a third-party provider, we receive the basic profile information that provider shares with us.
- Project content. Code, files, databases, environment variables, and other content you push to or store in a niles deploy slot. We treat this as confidential and access it only as needed to operate the Service or as you direct.
- Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor collects and stores your payment details. We receive a record of the transaction and your subscription status, not your full card number.
- Usage and device data. Log data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, requests made to your deploy slots, timestamps, and diagnostic information. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences, and limited analytics and advertising pixels to understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
2. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including hosting your deploy slots and previews.
- Authenticate you and protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests.
- Understand usage trends and develop new features.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:
- Service providers. With vendors who help us run the Service — for example cloud infrastructure, payment processing, email delivery, and analytics — under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- At your direction. When you make a preview URL public, invite collaborators, or connect a third-party integration.
- Legal reasons. When required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of niles, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in how your information is handled.
4. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete a project or close your account, we delete or de-identify the associated content within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups may persist for a limited time after deletion.
5. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials safe.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct, or update your account information from the dashboard.
- Delete projects and content, or close your account, at any time.
- Opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — such as access, portability, deletion, or objection — that you can exercise by contacting us at [email protected].
7. International users
niles is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
